In the last two hectic months I saved just a few dollars under $1000 on nearly $2000 worth of stuff.  Currently, I’m back to NY prep and if it weren’t for saving I’d be trying to buy this French Connection leather jacket marked from from $470 to $220 but… priorities.

May Inventory

From the below list of purchases, I think it’s finally become evident that summer is upon us.  Lightweight tees and flowier (definitely made this word up) pieces filled my shopping bags this month.  However, aside from the first week, May was particularly rainy AND there are some buys that simply didn’t make it into this months posts that will overflow into June.

So here it is, saving nearly 63% and even providing some tips on selling back some of your items, the close of the month of May.

Purchase Original Actual
Aldo hi-tops $65 $65
BCBG silky romper $98 $33
Silence & Noise open front cardigan $59.99 $29.99
BCBGeneration floral shorts $78 $32
bar III cat sweatshirt $69 $24
Metallic Michael Kors tote $248 $5
bar III sweetheart seamed white tee $39.99 $23.40
Alternative Apparel sweatshirt $48 $28.80
Nasty Gal, Missing Pieces top $48 $36
bar III “not a t-shirt” tee $39 $18
Total $793 $295

Look for some new mommy friendly posts this month and plenty of new summer wear.  I would ESPECIALLY appreciate some contributions from the men in my life.  Email me at TheDiscountDiary[at]gmail.com.

Thanks!

April Inventory

Nine days.  Nine days out of thirty in the month of April, there were friends and/or family in Miami or in my house that I needed to see and spend time with.  I wasn’t obligated, these are some very important individuals.  Additionally, three of these weeks were spent campaigning for my LLS Woman of the Year nomination.  Less shop, more talk/walk/eat/drink… you get the idea.

Contrary to what you will see below, I spent a lot of money.  Although I’d do it all over again, I’ve been on perpetual vacation after 7pm on most days this month, which is why you see less deals and less shopping.

Yolo?  Meh.

Purchase Original Actual
Happy Hour at The Wood Tavern $32 $16
Stussy long sleeve t-shirt $59.99 $29.98
Reason Clothing Homies snap back hat $28 $13
Hair color at Todd Jameson Nue Studio $225 $107
Two Tresic knee length dresses  $92 $27
Tresic tulip bottom dress $46 $13.50
Bangle bangle turquoise necklace $49 $29.99
BCBG black dress $108 $49
Gold large link statement necklace $49 $23
Totals $689 $308

On what originally would’ve run me $689, I only spent $308.  Essentially, this is still 56% off however, not my best showing, especially since I paid full price for some crucial items, like my leather skirt.  Jeez.  Bring it on May.

March Inventory

Miraculously, it appears as though I didn’t shop very much in March.  Well looks can be deceiving because I actually paid (GASP) full price for some awesome things I just had to have but that have no business being on this blog.  Oops.

I also attended the Syracuse v. Louisville game for free through an awesome hook up and some pretty cool Ultra/WMC parties but you already know that story too.  It’s all about networking and I can’t give up all my secrets.

Not to worry, though, I believe I am expecting some packages in the mail this week (two thumbs way up).

In the meantime, here is a short laundry list that sums up March but still doesn’t disappoint.

Purchase Original Actual
Matisse Studded cowboy boots $286 $48
60-pack of K-cups $39.99 $31.99
Carmar high-waisted black jeans $172 $70
Tahari black maxi skirt $80 $39.99
2 pairs of mens Levi’s jeans, 3 CK sweaters and BCBG dress $459 $50.28
MillyNY leather tote $465 $167
Lucca Couture crop $39.99 $15
Military jacket $172 $28
Club Level Hockey tickets for charity event $150 $50
BDG chambray button up shirt $59.99 $29.99
TOTAL $1,923 $530

My friends and I saved $1323 on nearly $2000 worth of stuff.  I initially suspected having saved less than normal but at about a 72% discount, March seems to be right in line with all the previous months.

Also, those Panther’s club level hockey tickets are still available and for this Sunday’s game.  I’d love to see you all there!

And here’s to a great start to Summer in Miami (cue Jim Jones track, circa 04/05).

February Inventory

I just don’t do well with short things.  Short weekends, short men, short months – I’m just not interested.  You’re just not for me.

February, essentially you just let March sneak up on me.  And your inconsistency?  It kills me.  Is it not enough you get to be short but then you also feel the need to mix it up every four years and take an extra day.  I don’t know who you think you are.

With that being said, here is February’s recap, five days into March.

Purchase Original Actual
AQUA tribal print tunic $78 $17
Rachel Roy, The Manhattan Dress $120 $44
Steve Madden sandals $69 $55
American Apparel black crop $24 $24
American Apparel bikini $58 $0
Ecote kimono robe $69 $19
Abas oversized clutch* $130 $50
Kelsi Dagger pink suede flats  $100 $29.99
My Theorie Valentine’s event $48 $3
Firth long sleeve yellow dress $168 $39.99

OnJuice one day cleanse  $75 $0
Brynn UGG boots $279 $159.99
Guess fur vest $138 $37

The total of all the items on the blog in the month of February would’ve been $1424.  Only $528 was spent, saving a total of about 63%.

Take that short month.

2013 Kickoff, January Inventory

I am super pleased with The Discount Diary in it’s initial month of 2013.  We’ve got a new look.  A lot of you submitted your buys.  I had my first contributor.  My first travel tip is in the books.  Quite a collection of selfies have accumulated.  Everyone and their mother got or should be able to find a pair of perfect boots.  The ManRepeller FAVORITED my tweet on Twitter and read a post.  I like it.

But you know what time it is, the close of the first month.  So, without further adieu, here’s the damage.

Purchase Original Actual
Men’s Prada Stamped Python Drivers $480 $280
American Apparel black body suit and dress $72 $47
Sprarkle and Fade black dress $69.99 $13.49
BCBG long sleeve ribbed dress $88 $24.99
H&M yoga pants $34.95 $14.95
DIY denim cutoff shorts $40 $3.99
Men’s All Saints boots $300 $88
Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses $169.99 $108
Stuart Weitzman double zip black boots  $450 $78
American Apparel black bikini $50 $13

JetBlue flight, FLL to JFK $242 $170
bar III shirt dress $79.99 $35
Franco Sarto boots $80 $39
Vince Camuto boots $129 $39

Together, everyone’s purchases totaled $2,484.  It’s great to see everyone shopping smart and stimulating the economy after the holidays but acquiring all of this for only $1,049.  Go ahead, take a look back, check out the posts and see how we saved 58% all together.

So thank you to all those who offered their input and read some posts.  February surely has some exciting things coming.  I appreciate your interest and (hopefully) your continued support.

MVP!

MVP, my Most Valuable Purchases, ok really these are MY favorite/most used items posted in 2012.  I told you what you guys liked best, but honestly, what about me?  So for the first day on the new domain, it’s all about me!

5. denim, denim, denim

You might as well refer to these shorts and this shirt as used and abused.  Thankfully, the more beat up my “destroyed denim” is, the better.  I wear the my shorts for everything – errands, trips to SunLife, with any of my 23 bodysuits, out at night, most recently with some awesome stockings, just everything.  Good thing I got two pairs!

4. Friends with Benefits

You might as well refer to these as used and abused… wait, no, that was the last one.  Honestly, I should send these boys Thank You cards and Christmas gifts and my girlfriends (and cousins) should too.  They have been facilitating my nightlife since I got out of the industry.  I know this post was on the Top 5 but it’s an MVP for me too.

3. Search and Destroy Vintage

My friends are probably tired of hearing about it and when I speak about my blog this is probably my most mentioned purchase so with it not landing on the Top 5, I think you all could use a second look.  Do you understand what I paid for this vintage Salvatore Ferragamo bag that I love so much?  Hands down, most carried night time bag since I bought it.

2. Perfect Booties

Not only did I manage some major savings on these, I’ve now had them since early this past summer and the quality is impeccable.  This pair of boots is what this blog is about, high quality/reasonable price.  I unnecessarily wore them ALL SUMMER.

December Inventory

Ugh, December was a tough one.  One definitely does A LOT less shopping for oneself during the holidays but I also couldn’t write about gifts or any awesome discounts my friends hooked me up with.

Don’t fret! I still achieved some incredible savings and hopefully provided some helpful info otherwise.

Purchase Original Actual
Groupon for dinner at Dapur $130 $82
Art Basel kick-off party at the MoCA $35 $4
American Apparel Belle Du Jour dress $65 $52
Outfit of the day post $415 $113
Cynthia Vincent shoes  $375 $86
BCBG clutch $88 $31
Lucky Brand sweater $169 $39.99
Aldo red suede boots $100 $38
Jessica Simpson red suede booties $118 $25

.

The total of all the original costs for all posts in December came to $1,495.  Only $470.99 was spent, bringing the December discount to 68%.  I’ll take it considering the savings but I definitely spent a good majority on gifts and running up and down the east coast.  That’s the holidays though!
In the upcoming weeks, look for a lot of holiday leftovers, after Christmas deals, a little 2012 recap of your favorite posts and the staple great options for deals.
Happy New Year!
